Our organization began in 2018, born from conversations between railway historians, heritage preservation advocates, and tourism professionals who shared a common frustration. Despite the profound role railways played in shaping Canada—politically, economically, and culturally—accessible experiences connecting modern travellers with this heritage remained remarkably scarce.
The founding team included museum curators, retired railway workers, academic historians, and experienced tour operators. What united them was a belief that heritage tourism could serve both preservation and education—that by creating compelling experiences, they could generate both awareness and resources for protecting irreplaceable railway artifacts and infrastructure.
Those early months involved countless conversations with heritage railway societies across the country, negotiations with transportation authorities, and the painstaking work of developing tours that would be historically authentic while remaining accessible and engaging for modern travellers.
